Composite Restorations (White Fillings)
What are white fillings?
Dental fillings are a common treatment used to repair tooth structure that has been damaged by decay, cracks, or fractures. At the dental office of Elk Grove Village Dentist – Dr. Brian Homann, DDS, we utilize white fillings to maintain a natural aesthetic. White fillings are made from a material called composite resin; composite resin is a durable material that can be closely matched to your natural tooth color. Not only do white fillings look more attractive, but they are also able to form a stronger bond with your existing tooth structure than “silver,” amalgam fillings. We provide white dental fillings in Elk Grove Village, Illinois to ensure your smile says healthy, strong, and beautiful!
How are white fillings done?
We can complete a white filling treatment in just one visit to our dental office. Dr. Brian Homann will first remove all existing tooth decay and damage before cleansing your tooth. The composite resin, soft when first applied, is then placed in the empty cavity left by the decay. We then sculpt the white filling until it fits your bite and the natural appearance of your smile. To complete the treatment, the white filling is hardened and then polished to a beautiful shine.
